47 Key Principles for Guns

Principle - Recoil

If we remember Sir Issac Newton's 3rd Law, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

When you shoot a gun, an explosion takes place that causes the bullet to travel very quickly down the barrel. But the force also pushes back towards you. This force is called recoil.

The more recoil a gun has the harder it is to shoot.

Some guns have low recoil like a 22 Rifle. (This is the diameter of the bullet 22/100 of an inch).

Some guns are painful to shoot due to the recoil, like a 12 Gauge shotgun.

Recoil can hurt and I've gotten hit in the nose with the scope of a rifle due to recoil.

There are techniques to reduce felt recoil, like leaning forward, using low-recoil shotgun shells, or using a heavier gun.

The muzzle or front of the gun rises due to recoil.

The only way to really understand recoil though is to go shoot various guns and bullets.
